CEO
Tomoharu Okabe

Currently engaged in research sales and prime broker business, Tomoharu Okabe previously served as president of a hedge fund consulting company and representative of Malaysian sovereign fund PNB in Japan. Now, he is involved in a wide range of investment operations in PE, real estate, and stocks.
Okabe handles Japanese equity foreign institutional investor sales at Daiwa Securities and Deutsche Securities (6.5 years in the US, 7.5 years in Japan). He has 7 years of experience covering various hedge funds, including as manager of long/short Japanese stocks (domestic and overseas) at prime brokers and consultants, and 3.5 years of buy-side experience as a representative of Malaysian sovereign funds in Japan. He is well-versed in the investment methods and construction methods of global investors outside Japan through sell-side, buy-side, and consulting services beyond the boundaries of regional characteristics and religious views. He understands a wide range of investment perspectives, including traditional investment styles such as value and growth, as well as the approaches taken by activists. Okabe seeks to revitalize the stock market and connect Japanese companies to the future by bridging companies and investors with an aim to enhance corporate value, strengthen shareholder value, and advance internationalization.

Okabe graduated from Fort Lewis University (Colorado, USA) with a Bachelor of Business Administration.

Karen Holterman

After graduating from university, Karen began her career in London selling Japanese equities at Swiss Bank Corporation. Following a 3 year stint at Robert Fleming, she joined Merrill Lynch where she
became the head of Japanese Equity Sales and Derivatives in charge of Europe and the Middle East. She was selected to join the Merrill Lynch Women’s Leadership Program, studing Management at Harvard and Princeton. In 2008, utilizing her wide network and expertise, Karen established Formula Financial Consulting to provide global fundraising services for hedge funds based in Europe. Karen’s career spans more than 30 years in the financial industry.

She holds a joint Business and International Law degree from Leiden University, an MBA from Boston University and an LLM from the University of London. She also holds an MSc in Applied Human Nutrition from Oxford Brookes University.

Kota Muramatsu

After graduating from university, Kota Muramatsu joined Nikko Cordial Securities (now SMBC Nikko Securities) in 2008. He worked in retail sales, providing asset management consulting and helping a diverse range of clients build their assets.
From 2015, Muramatsu worked at Nikko Investor Relations Co., Ltd. for 6.5 years, playing an active role at the front line of IR consulting. He led a wide range of work aimed at raising corporate value, including planning IR strategies for listed companies, planning and managing earnings briefings, producing presentation materials and videos, and proposing improvements to IR-dedicated websites. Muramatsu later strengthened collaboration with diverse stakeholders through RM (relationship management) work for listed companies and independent administrative agencies and contributed to sustainable corporate management.
Since joining Global IR in October 2024, he has been providing outstanding IR solutions to clients in Japan and overseas, drawing on his wealth of experience and high level of expertise.

Muramatsu graduated from the Doshisha University Faculty of Law.

Norio Shiina – 13 years of buy-side investment and research experience

Analyst Bio

Norio Shiina has 13 years of buy-side investment and research experience, and more than 10 years of research on companies and industries as a third party. MUFG, FIL Investments (Japan), etc.

Shiina covers both manufacturing and non-manufacturing industries for all company sizes. His experience as an analyst focuses mainly on healthcare, telecommunications/internet, finance, and all small- and mid-cap stocks.

Koichiro Saito has worked for many years as an analyst for the housing, construction, real estate, chemical, electronic materials, and cosmetics sectors. He has experience working for a Japanese electronic materials company.

Achievements
Ranked second in the analyst rankings of the Nikkei Financial Daily and The Economist. Saito’s analysis report on brand value assessment was also published in the Analyst Journal, and he also wrote a book edited by a professor from the Research Center for Financial Engineering of the Kyoto Institute of Economic Research at Kyoto University. After working as an analyst at an investment bank, Saito spent 10 years in business operations at a Japanese electronic materials company, including management planning, R&D planning, and new business launch and development.

I bring a broad perspective to research, analysis, and strategic proposals, drawing from my experience as a sell-side analyst and my background in investment banking. In particular, I have worked on business planning, as well as on launching and developing new businesses as an analyst, playing a central role in alliance proposals within a corporate environment.
